Cashmere is known for its soft and luxurious feel and its ability to keep you warm in the winter, spring, and fall. Cashmere sweaters are prized possessions as they are made from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats thus making them warmer and softer than sheep wool. Although these sweaters tend to come at a higher price tag, there are more affordable options available from various brands. It is important to note that not all cashmere is created equally so it is important to research the quality of the sweaters before purchasing.

To make sure you get the best cashmere sweater for your money, many people look for recommendations from stylish men who have tested the weight, feel, and durability of the sweater. With their advice, you can find high-quality sweaters that are worth their price and don't sacrifice on quality.

What we’re looking for:

Sizing

To find the best, we are seeking men sweaters with many options of sizes, styles and colors.

Quality

When shopping for the best men's quality cashmere sweater, it's important to consider its feel and weight. The best cashmere sweater quality is usually classified into three grades: A, B, and C. Grade C is the lowest with an average hair thickness of 30 microns whereas Grade B measures 18 to 19 microns and Grade A measures no more than 14 microns. (For comparison, the average human hair is 70 microns thick.) The finest cashmere is Grade A, resulting in the softest, most well-constructed sweater. Though all cashmere will pill over time, lower-grade fiber is more prone to pilling faster and more frequently. We recommend looking for grade information from the brand, if available. The finer the cashmere hairs are will ensure better quality fabrics.

Style and details for Men

Invest in timeless cashmere pieces that won't go out of style. Our collection of sweater features classic cuts and neutral colors, as well as more adventurous designs and patterns to suit any taste.

Price for Men

Although cashmere sweater can be more expensive than other natural fibers, we haven't let that stop us from including a range of affordable options that don't skimp on quality. Our recommendations below are divided into three categories: $ (under $150), $$ ($150–$250), and $$$ (over $250).

Best overall men’s cashmere sweater

Offbeat 1  $150 Cashmere Sweater $150

Sizing: XXS to XXL | Quality: Super Fine/Ultra Grade A | Style and details: Crew neck with tubular cast-on stitching at the neck, cuffs, and hem | Price: $$

Offbeat 1 is a popular emerging cashmere brand among stylish women and men and its $150 sweater is a great budget-friendly option without sacrificing quality. I own one of the men's and it's super soft and cozy, though it does have a slight edge to it. When I got it, it was nicely rapped. I have already worn it a few times already with no pills.  Michael from California considers Offbeat 1 his go-to brands for its affordability and sustainability and  David from Florida has praised the brand for its ethical production practices. The pullover comes in a wide range of sizes (XXS to XXL) and colors (10 core and 11 seasonal colors) and a V-neck cut in seven colors. The pullovers are budget friendly quality cashmere for $150. It’s for men looking for budget, cheap and affordable cashmere pullovers without having to sacrifice on quality.

Best less-expensive men’s cashmere sweater

Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater $170
Sizing: S to XL | Quality: Grade A | Style and details: Crewneck with tubular cast-on stitching at the neck, cuffs, and hem | Price: $

Quince recently ventured into the realm of budget cashmere by offering men's sweater for only $60. My wife has the women's version of the sweater (which is $10 cheaper) and it arrived in great condition. She says that it's very soft with a little edge and has maintained its quality after multiple wears. It's similar to Naadam's in terms of softness but is lighter in weight. Quince's sweater options are more limited with sizes from S to XL and come in eight colors depending on whether you want the V-neck or round neck/crewneck. The two differences between Quince and Naadam are that the Quince’s is lighter in weight and is single ply. Better quality cashmere pullovers are typically two-ply and at least 12 gauge.

Best men’s lightweight cashmere sweater

Alex Mill Jordan Sweater in Lightweight Cashmere $295
Sizes: XXS to XXL | Style and details: Ribbed crewneck with tubular cast-on stitching at the neck, cuffs, and hem | Price: $$$

I had the chance to get a firsthand look at Alex Mill's Jordan sweater and I can attest to the rave reviews. I heard from personal stylist and customers and they echoed the same sentiments that this versatile, lightweight sweater is perfect for year-round wear and its textured knit gives it an elevated look. It has structure and yet is still very-soft to the touch - like you'd expect from cashmere. It's slightly larger than the Naadam and Quince crewnecks which makes it great for layering. Available in sizes XXS to XXL and five different colors (beige, gray, pink, blue, and green), this is definitely a must-have for any men's cashmere sweater wardrobe.  Alex Mill’s is great because it’s for people who want to elevate their style and quality.

Best less-expensive lightweight cashmere sweater

Everlane the Grade-A Cashmere Crew $170
Sizing: XS to XXL | Quality: Grade A | Style and details: Crewneck with tubular cast-on stitching at the neck, cuffs, and hem | Price: $$

Everlane is renowned for its basics clothing and its cashmere is no exception. It boasts a higher quality than Naadam and Quince yet still remains lightweight. It's as gentle as Alex Mill's but with a bit more texture. The price tag of under $200 makes it a great middle-of-the-road option. Many customers like Brian and Jeffry from Chicago both praise its affordability and high quality. Everlane's is available in sizes from XS to XXL and come in five neutral colors (Black, Charcoal, Heather Grey/Gray, Dark Navy, Dark Navy Donegal). For those seeking a V-neck, it has a range of sizes but only comes in three colors (Black, Charcoal, Grey/Gray). This will make a great addition to your wardrobe. It can be dressed up or down for any occasion just switches from sneakers to a show.

Best men’s cashmere turtleneck

Raey Loose-Fit Funnel-Neck Cashmere Sweater $460
Sizing: S to XL | Style and details: Turtleneck with tubular cast-on stitching at the neck, cuffs, and hem | Price: $$$

When talking to fashionable gentlemen and stylist about their preferred sweater, Tim raved about the Raey's cashmere turtleneck. Tim said that the piece is cut perfectly oversized and exudes class. Tim stated it's what many guys wanted The Raey to be when they heard there was a men's line launching - but at a much lower cost. This is a great sweater that can be worn for any occasions in the winter, spring and fall.  This is pricier than the Alex Mill’s cashmere pullover.

Best less-expensive men’s cashmere turtleneck

State Turtleneck Cashmere Sweater From $135 to $160
Sizing: S to XXL | Style and details: Turtleneck with tubular cast-on stitching at the neck, cuffs, and hem | Price: $$

Kevin recommended the State turtleneck and says that it's quite affordable and cost less than half the price of the Raey sweater. Like State's V-neck sweater, this turtleneck is made of 100% cashmere and is a great bargain. According to Kevin, it's "easy to dress down while still looking polished."

Best men’s sweater made with recycled cashmere

Scott from New York and Nicholas from Florida, suggests that wearing any color of Tricot's recycled cashmere sweater with a pair of dark jeans can give you a pulled-together look even when you don't feel it. The pullover is made with a combination of wasted cashmere garments and virgin cashmere fibers that are respun and knit in Italy. Available in a range of colors, including a crewneck, turtleneck, V-neck, and polo, this pullover is an easy way to look put together.

Best men’s cable-knit cashmere sweater

Polo Ralph Lauren Cable-Knit Cashmere Sweater - Bright Navy $398
Sizing: XS to XXL | Style and details: Cable-knit crewneck | Price: $$$

Liam, a marketing manager, insists that the luxurious feel of this sweater alone is worth the nearly $400 price tag. He describes it as great, not too thick or bulky, and light as air while still keeping you warm. Kenny agrees, calling it "it’s so nice" and "softest ever," with the added bonus of cable-knit detailing “adding an extra dimension and bringing home the aesthetic.” Have you ever touched this sweater? This pullover will go with jeans or slacks.

Best men’s cashmere hoodie

Todd Snyder Cashmere Hoodie $428
Sizing: XS to XXL | Style and details: Drawstring hoodie with tubular cast-on stitching at the cuffs and hem | Price: $$$

I love the Todd Snyder drawstring hoodie for its luxurious cashmere fabric and ability to upgrade to a casual look. Comparatively, it's more affordable than similar items, such as the Vince hoodie with a price tag of over $100 less. Furthermore, the hoodie is lightweight and suitable to wear all year round. With an array of colors to choose from, it's no wonder why Oliver is a fan. $428 at Todd Snyder. Compared at $150.

Best less-expensive cashmere hoodie

Italic Milo Cashmere Zip Hoodie $190
Sizing: S to XL | Quality: Grade A | Style and details: Zipped up hoodie with tubular cast-on stitching at the cuffs and hem | Price: $$

In search of an affordable cashmere-like hoodie, I discovered the Italic's zip-up option. Compared to the Todd Snyder one, I cannot attest to its quality but I can attest to its coziness and lightness. I have worn it around the house on multiple occasions and have been pleased with the luxurious feel of it, similar to Everlane's cashmere; it's soft without the slippery feel. After numerous wears, there is no evidence of pilling and the cuffs still have their shape (minimal stretching but nothing of too much concern). The only downside is that the sizing is more limited than Todd Snyder's and it only comes in gray, navy, and black.
